The pandemic crisis, lockdown and response have impacted the way that food mediates our connections with our selves, families, communities, and the divine. Having gone through Ramadan, Easter and Passover during the pandemic - each of which has a strong food component - the crisis has altered the means of dining with families and communities. Dining together is a communal and binding thing in almost every place in the world, however with the introduction of the pandemic and its consequential responses, it is inevitable that food connections amongst communities have suffered. What can we learn from its impact on our food connections and behaviour? Has the role of food, as a means of mediation, diminished?
